Ruben Amorim “completely blanked” Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes after Wolves defeat
Fernandes was shown a second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Nelson Semedo, reducing his side to 10 men
Ruben Amorim reportedly “completely blanked” a “desolate” Bruno Fernandes following Manchester United’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Wolves, according to an eyewitness account.
After a painful 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford, United entered their match against Wolves determined to restore confidence among their supporters.
However, the match ended goalless at halftime, with both teams struggling to make a breakthrough. The second half, however, quickly spiraled into disaster for United.
Captain Bruno Fernandes, already under pressure, was shown a second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Nelson Semedo, reducing his side to 10 men.
Despite his protests, referee Michael Oliver, aided by VAR, dismissed Fernandes, weakening United’s resolve.
One of the most striking moments of the match came as Fernandes made his way off the pitch.
According to the Manchester Evening News, manager Ruben Amorim, visibly frustrated, offered no acknowledgement to the midfielder as he “completely blanked” him.
Sources claim Bruno Fernandes appeared “desolate” during the interaction.
This wasn’t the first time Amorim had shown his feelings through such gestures. In a previous match, Marcus Rashford was similarly ignored when substituted.
United’s travelling supporters, renowned for their unwavering loyalty, were left bitterly disappointed by their team’s lackluster performance.
Many fans exited the stadium before the final whistle, leaving only a sparse group of supporters to witness the players’ half-hearted attempts to apologise for the defeat.
With United’s season on the line, Amorim now faces the daunting task of regrouping his squad.
The team will need a much-improved performance when an in-form Newcastle United visits Old Trafford on Monday.
Newcastle’s strong recent form has propelled them to new heights, and United will need to deliver a far better display to stand a chance against Eddie Howe’s side.
