Liverpool star Luis Diaz’ dad hospitalised in Colombia with chest pains

The 58-year-old father of four was initially admitted to Our Lady of Pilar Hospital in Barrancas, his hometown

Luis Manuel Díaz, the father of Liverpool star Luis Díaz, has been hospitalised in Colombia after experiencing chest pains, just 13 months after enduring a 12-day kidnapping ordeal.

The 58-year-old father of four was initially admitted to Our Lady of Pilar Hospital in Barrancas, his hometown, where he was stabilised and given oxygen.

He was later transferred to the Cesar Cardiovascular Institute in Valledupar, a 90-minute drive away, for further evaluation and specialized care.

Local news outlet El Pilón reported that Luis Manuel, known as “Mane” in his homeland, is scheduled to undergo a cardiac catheterization procedure.

This common medical procedure involves the insertion of a flexible tube, or catheter, through a blood vessel to assess and treat heart conditions.

Contrary to rumors of a heart attack, the Díaz family has denied such claims.

Doctors are reportedly exploring the possibility that the chest pain may be related to a strained muscle rather than a cardiac issue.

Luis Manuel has yet to comment publicly on his health scare.

However, local journalist Hamilton Daza quoted him briefly, though further details remain undisclosed.

“I thank God for keeping me healthy again. I’m a bit worried but thanks to God everything is fine, it’s nothing serious,”  Daza said.

“The doctors have certified it’s just pain and has nothing to do with heart problems. There’s no need for anyone to be concerned. There’s ‘Mane’ for a while.”

The specialist hospital where Luis Diaz’ dad is being treated confirmed in a statement released yesterday: “Luis Manuel Diaz Jimenez is hospitalised in our centre receiving comprehensive specialised medical care.

“He will remain under strict management and surveillance with the aim of obtaining the best results for his health and his swift return to his family.”
