Ruben Amorim finally meet members of new squad at Manchester United

Ruben Amorim has officially met members of his new Manchester United squad, just under two weeks after his appointment as manager.
Although announced as Erik ten Hag’s successor on 1st November, Amorim remained with Sporting Lisbon for three additional matches.
The 39-year-old finally arrived in Manchester on Monday, accompanied by his coaching staff.
The group took a morning flight from Beja airport in Portugal to Manchester, just hours after overseeing a dramatic 4-2 comeback victory over Braga in their final match at the helm of Sporting.
Upon arrival, Ruben Amorim and his team headed straight to United’s Carrington training ground, where they were welcomed by chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and technical director Jason Wilcox.
With many first-team players currently on international duty, Amorim was only able to meet a limited number of his new squad.
Images released by the club captured the new manager engaging with Luke Shaw, placing a supportive hand on the defender’s shoulder in the gym.
Amorim also shared moments with Mason Mount, greeting the midfielder with an arm around his waist and exchanging a friendly hug.
The manager was photographed laughing alongside young defender Leny Yoro, further establishing rapport with the team.
Kobbie Mainoo was another player who had the opportunity to meet Amorim, with pictures depicting a conversation followed by a warm embrace between the two.
Lastly, academy talent Toby Collyer was shown speaking with the new boss, who had his arm draped around the youngster’s back.
These five players, all currently sidelined due to injury, were available at the training ground, facilitating their introduction to Amorim.
Amorim is expected to meet the rest of the squad next week in preparation for his first match in charge.
That fixture is set for 25 November, an away game against Ipswich Town, managed by former United coach Kieran McKenna.
In addition to meeting some of his players, Amorim made his first significant managerial decision on Monday by confirming the departure of interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy and the remaining members of Ten Hag’s staff.
Van Nistelrooy had hoped to secure a position under Amorim’s leadership, but the Portuguese manager opted for a clean slate, cutting ties with the previous regime.
“Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club. Ruud rejoined in the summer and has taken charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach,” United said in a statement.
“Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend.
“We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club.
“He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.
“Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have also departed and we wish them all well for the future.
“We will confirm the full men’s first team coaching composition in due course.”
