Mohamed Salah has attracted significant interest from two of Liverpool’s major European rivals as speculation intensifies over his Anfield contract, which expires next summer.
Following Liverpool’s 3-0 victory away at Manchester United on September 1, Salah hinted that this could be his final season with the club.
The Egyptian forward, who joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017, has enjoyed a prolific spell, winning the Premier League, the Champions League, and several other trophies.
During his time at Liverpool, he has made 352 appearances and scored 214 goals.
His current contract is set to end in June 2025, and recent comments have sparked speculation about his future, with some predicting a move to Saudi Arabia.
However, European clubs are also keen on Salah.
According to El Nacional, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are among the teams interested in the 32-year-old.
PSG are looking to strengthen its already formidable attack, which includes Ousmane Dembélé, Marco Asensio, and Bradley Barcola.
Juventus, meanwhile, aim to add Salah’s goal-scoring experience and big-game pedigree to their squad.
Given Salah’s skill as a dynamic dribbler and clinical finisher, it’s no surprise that top European sides are eyeing him, especially with the prospect of acquiring him on a free transfer.
Despite this interest, Salah’s preference appears to be staying at Liverpool, where he is reportedly ‘desperate’ to secure a new contract.
This comes amid significant interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, including Al-Ittihad, who could offer more lucrative terms.
Salah, however, may be wary of the diminishing reputation of former teammate Sadio Mane since his move to the Middle East.
The speculation about Salah’s future intensified after he played a key role in Liverpool’s dominant win over Manchester United, setting up goals for Luis Diaz and scoring one himself.
Salah has now scored in each of his last seven visits to Old Trafford, tallying an impressive 10 goals in those matches.
Overall, he has netted 15 times in 16 encounters against United.
After the game, Salah admitted uncertainty about his future and said: “I was coming to the game and I said, “look, it could be the last time (at Old Trafford)”.
“Nobody from the club has talked to me yet about contracts.
“It’s not up to me, it’s up to the club but we will see.
“As you know, it’s my last year in the club.
“I just want to enjoy it.
“I don’t want to think about it (the contract).
“I feel I’m free to play football and we’ll see what’s going to happen next year.”
