West Ham forward Michail Antonio undergoes surgery on lower limb fracture after horror Ferrari crash
West Ham United confirmed that the forward will remain in a London hospital for monitoring as part of his recovery process
Michail Antonio has undergone surgery for a lower limb fracture after being involved in a horrific Ferrari crash on Saturday.
West Ham United confirmed that the forward will remain in a London hospital for monitoring as part of his recovery process.
The football world was left shocked this weekend after news broke that Antonio had been caught in a devastating car crash.
Disturbing images of his crushed supercar, found in woodlands near Theydon Bois, Essex, raised concerns.
However, the club later reassured fans, stating that Antonio was in a “stable” condition and was able to communicate following the accident.
West Ham have now provided a full update on his injuries.
A statement from the club said: “West Ham United can confirm Michail Antonio has undergone surgery on a lower limb fracture following a road traffic accident on Saturday afternoon. Michail will continue to be monitored in hospital over the coming days.
“Everyone at the Club wishes Michail a speedy recovery and wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the football family at large for the overwhelming support shown since yesterday’s news, as well as extending a heartfelt thank you to the emergency services and first responders who attended to Michail in the immediate aftermath of the incident, and the medical team who continue to aid him in his recovery.
“The Club will provide further updates when appropriate.”
This isn’t the first time Michail Antonio has been involved in a car crash.
On Christmas Day 2019, he famously crashed his £210,000 Lamborghini into a front garden while dressed as a snowman.
Since joining West Ham in 2015, Antonio has been an integral part of the team.
The versatile forward has made 323 appearances and scored 83 goals, playing a pivotal role in the club’s success, including their UEFA Conference League triumph in 2023.
