Charlotte FC interested in signing Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott from Aston Villa
Elliott joined Villa from Liverpool on deadline day on a season-long loan, with an obligation to buy if he reached a set number of appearances

Charlotte FC manager Dean Smith has confirmed the club’s interest in Harvey Elliott as they look to offer the midfielder a way out of his difficult spell at Aston Villa.
Elliott joined Villa from Liverpool on deadline day on a season-long loan, with an obligation to buy if he reached a set number of appearances.
The 22-year-old has featured just five times, with Unai Emery now avoiding triggering the £35m clause, leaving Harvey Elliott in limbo.
Having already played for both Liverpool and Villa this season, he is unable to join another European club.
Reports earlier this month linked Charlotte FC with a loan move, and Smith has now publicly confirmed their interest.
“I put the feelers out, obviously, when I was over there,” he told Sky Sports.
“I was thinking about it and thought, there is an opportunity here.
“If he is not going to play at Villa, and can’t play anywhere else, then it would be an option for him to come and play some games up until the World Cup break.
“If he is not playing between now and the World Cup, it is a shame. There is an opportunity for him to come out and play here if that is what Liverpool or Villa wanted to do.”
