Manchester City not considering January move for Paul Pogba

The Frenchman is eligible to return to action in March after his doping ban was reduced on appeal

Manchester City have no plans to pursue Paul Pogba, despite speculation linking the former Manchester United midfielder with a return to the Premier League as he searches for his next move in football.

The Frenchman, 31, is eligible to return to action in March after his doping ban was reduced on appeal.

Currently a free agent following the termination of his contract with Juventus, Pogba has been the subject of reports suggesting City might consider him as an option to address their injury concerns.

However, according to Mirror Football, Man City are not exploring a move for the World Cup winner.

City have previously been linked with Pogba on multiple occasions, including when he first returned to Old Trafford in 2016 and later during his time as a Red Devil.

While reports indicate he is being evaluated as a potential short-term solution to bolster their midfield, Pogba’s personal stance could prove a stumbling block.

The midfielder is reportedly hesitant to move back to Manchester, citing mixed experiences during his spells with United.

Additionally, Pogba is said to have reservations about returning to the Premier League altogether. Instead, his preference is to continue his career in La Liga, Serie A, or the Bundesliga.

Pogba recently teased his future plans on Instagram, sharing a cryptic post featuring a timer emoji alongside a zipped-mouth and winking-face emoji, hinting at upcoming news.

The midfielder enjoyed two stints with Manchester United, making 233 appearances and scoring 39 goals before leaving on a free transfer to rejoin Juventus in 2022.

His time in Turin was marred by injuries and his eventual ban, limiting him to just 12 appearances.

Former United striker Louis Saha recently claimed that Pogba had been offered the chance to train with the Red Devils, the club where he began his professional career.

“I’ve heard some rumours that Paul Pogba will be offered the opportunity to come back and train with Man Utd in the New Year, and I think that would be a great opportunity for Paul,” he told Casino Utan Spelpaus
